Welcome to GEOMAP

John Kostelnick

The Institute for Geospatial Analysis & Mapping (GEOMAP), formerly known as GIS Services, was unveiled at Illinois State University during a dedication ceremony on November 9, 2007. The Institute is housed in the Department of Geography, Geology, & the Environment at ISU, providing synergy for faculty research across campus and offering unique learning and professional development opportunities for students. Our mission is three-fold: to support research, education, and outreach activities to enhance our understanding of environmental and social challenges through the application of Geographic Information Science (Geographic Information Systems, GPS, cartography, geovisualization, and remote sensing). As our motto, “here today…for tomorrow” suggests, we view GIScience as integral to charting a sustainable future for our communities, our state, our nation, and our world. We encourage you to browse through our website. Its pages highlight the wide range of accomplishments and activities of our faculty members and students. We welcome your suggestions and look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for stopping by.
